Apple respects America’s parks.
In the year Through August 28, Apple is donating $10 to the National Park Foundation for every Apple Pay purchase on apple.com, the Apple Store app, or an Apple Store in the US.
Celebrating 106 years of the United States National Park Service, Apple today introduced more ways to learn about and support America’s parks. These offers include the company’s $10 donation to the National Park Foundation for every Apple Pay purchase made with Apple through August 28.1 With exclusive content and collections on Apple Maps, Apple Podcasts and more.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said, “When I visit our national parks — as I recently did in Yosemite and Glacier — I feel only a sense of awe, serenity, and quiet reverence.” “We are proud to partner with organizations and communities that care for our parks, teach us about their history and share them with the world. These treasures are worth preserving today and for all generations to come.
Last year, Apple’s support for the National Park Foundation helped young people from across the country — like Kalen Anderson, 2022 Corps Member of the Year — participate in a Service Corps program at a national park. This year, Anderson completed a Werowokomoko internship program at Colonial National Historical Park and the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail through the Appalachian Conservation Corps. As part of a program established in partnership with the National Park Foundation, he was able to directly participate in the management of a native archaeological site that is part of his indigenous identity and heritage.
“During my time as a corps member and intern with the National Park Service, I was given opportunities that influenced how I developed and developed myself as a steward,” said Anderson, a member of the Nansemond Indian Nation. . “I have learned that I am not only a steward of my environment but also a custodian of my culture. The deep time I spent working with my community has a positive impact on who I strive to be for myself and my community.
With a passion for park conservation and an understanding of its impact on culture, Anderson joins the Native Service Corps members who represent the next generation of national park stewards. Last year, Apple’s support for the National Park Foundation was supported by purchases made by customers with Apple Pay, and it also benefited Color Service Corps team leaders who wanted BIPOC conservationists to break into the field. This support aligns with the company’s Racial Equality and Justice Initiative, a long-standing effort to address systemic racism and expand opportunities for Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities.
“America’s national parks are a gift we share,” said Will Shafroth, president and CEO of the National Park Foundation. “Apple’s partnership and generous commitment will help all people see themselves in national parks and feel welcome in these places that belong to us all.”
In addition to supporting these and other programs that work to protect America’s favorite national parks with Apple Pay purchases, Apple customers can enjoy the unique world of these parks with exclusive collections and offerings from Apple services.
The Parks that Celebrate Native American History guide in Apple Maps lets users learn more about national parks that celebrate Native American history and heritage. On Apple Podcasts, listeners can watch episodes centered on Native voices, including the “Yellowstone” episode of “Parks,” about people who lived on public lands in the United States before colonists arrived.
Apple Watch users are encouraged to celebrate the beauty of national parks everywhere with a specific activity challenge reward. On August 27, users can earn rewards by completing a walk, hike, run, or wheelchair workout of one mile or more.
