Since 2006, Apple has partnered with (RED), the Global Fund to support the fight against HIV/AIDS. When customers buy (PRODUCT) RED products, a portion of the proceeds go to the Global Fund, which uses 100 percent of Apple’s funds to fund HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa.
Over the past 17 years, Apple’s customers have raised more than a quarter of a billion dollars to provide life-saving antiretroviral testing to millions of people and help HIV-positive mothers prevent the transmission of the virus to their children.
This year, Apple (RED) and the Global Fund are making it easy and fun to support with customer purchases.
From today until December 4, the App Store will donate proceeds from select exclusive in-app purchases to the Global Fund for three amazing games – MONOPOLY GO!, Gardenscapes and EA Sports FC Mobile – including player avatars, cool shields. And star footballers.1
Additionally, now through December 8, Apple is donating $1 for every Apple Pay purchase made on apple.com, through the Apple Store app or at an Apple Store location.2 Customers can buy any Apple product or accessory and save a life, and hundreds of Apple Store locations around the world will celebrate the day with in-store displays.
Beyond the service, Apple is creating an opportunity for its customers to learn about HIV/AIDS, as well as those affected by the disease and its heroes. In the US, Apple Books readers can browse fiction and non-fiction books and audiobooks from around the world that highlight the diversity of voices in the fight for AIDS awareness and advocacy. Listeners can delve into the history of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in America and abroad and hear stories from activists, artists and everyday people on Apple Podcasts. On the Apple TV app, viewers can browse compelling collections of shows and movies that shed light on the human cost of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on the Watch Now tab. And Apple Music subscribers can listen to a selection of music from across Africa, including Nigerian artists from Mavin Records.
