In addition to the 2022 iPad Pro tablets, Apple also introduced the iPad 10 (2022). Alongside the big changes on the outside and under the hood, Apple’s entry-level iPad is now more expensive than ever.
- Apple’s new iPad 10 has been unveiled with a completely new design.
- The iPad 10th Gen uses the A14 Bionic and 5G connectivity.
- The Apple iPad (2022) will launch on October 26 for $449.
In terms of design, the iPad 10 (2022) is a clone of the iPad Air 5. The LCD display is now larger at 10.9 inches with 500 nits maximum brightness and 2360×1640 pixels resolution. Unfortunately, it still only supports the original Apple Pencil instead of the Pencil 2. Likewise, USB-C will eventually replace the Lightning port and headphone jack. Apple has repositioned the fingerprint scanner, removed the home button and introduced thinner bezels.
The first iPad with a selfie camera
The Apple iPad 10th Gen is the first tablet from the Cupertino giant to feature a front-facing 12MP camera on the long edge. This enables better FaceTime viewing when the iPad is in landscape orientation. The upgraded 12MP camera on the back can shoot 4K video at 30fps.
As expected, the A14 Bionic chipset with a six-core processor powers the new iPad 10. Apple is adding a 5G connectivity option to the new iPad 10, but you’ll need to opt for a cellular model. The Wi-Fi and Cellular model starts at 64GB with the next storage configuration at 256GB.
iPad 10 Colors and Price (2022)
The upgrades and major design changes don’t come cheap. The starting price of the Apple iPad (2022) has increased to $449, a significant difference from the $329 of the 9th generation iPad. Available colors extend to blue, silver, yellow and pink. Additionally, it will be released on October 26, the same day as the iPad Pro tablets.
Although it works out of the box with iPadOS 16, the tablet doesn’t get the much-anticipated Stage Manager feature. Fortunately, new iPad software features are still available, like a dedicated weather app and a better collaboration tool. You can find the rest of iPadOS 16 features here.
Apple is showing off its new Magic Keyboard with magnets for the iPad 10. The folio case/keyboard with a kickstand retails for $249. Interestingly, it has a trackpad and full-sized keys.
