TL; DR
- There is now a Google Bard waiting list for users in the US and UK.
- Google offers access to users on a rolling schedule, so the sooner you sign up, the sooner you can use it.
- The company wants feedback to make Bard even better.
If you’ve been hoping to give Google’s AI-powered chatbot Bard a shot, your chance is fast approaching. Google is still clutching Bard to its chest, but today there’s a slight chink in its armor.
Starting now, people in the United States and the United Kingdom can join the Google Bard waiting list. Joining the waiting list will put you on the schedule to get to Bard soon. Google offers access on a rolling schedule, so the sooner you sign up, the sooner you’ll get access.
Google is apparently taking a “slow and steady” approach to Bard’s rollout. An AI-powered chatbot – not unlike the already popular ChatGPT bot – could be a critical product for the company. In many ways, ChatGPIT can completely replace Google Search if you know how to use it, which has been Google’s golden goose of revenue since its inception two decades ago.
In this early access round, Google wants user feedback on the Bard experience. The company has already faced some embarrassment for showing inaccurate information about how Bard works in the past. If Bard is to be a worthy competitor to ChatGPT, Google needs to ensure that its product is better when it comes to accuracy, efficiency, etc. That’s why Google Bard has a waiting list and is not just a simple global launch.
