As expected, Honor unveiled the X40 today at a special event in China. The handset can be ordered there starting at CNY 1,499, which is currently equivalent to $214.
The phone has a 6.67-inch 1080×2400 120 Hz curved AMOLED screen with 800 nits high brightness mode and 300 Hz touch sampling rate, a Snapdragon 695 chipset on the back and a 5,100 mAh battery with 40 W fast charging support (and in the box). The fingerprint scanner is under the display.
There is a dual camera system at the back, with a 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor. These are housed in the giant ring/circle with the LED flash. The “MATRIX AI VISION CAMERA” text occupies the empty center of that circle, while the prestige brand is at the bottom of the back. This is definitely a unique design. Anyway, selfies are taken care of by the 8 MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture.
The phone runs Android 12 with Honor’s Magic UI 6.1 and comes in four memory/storage configurations: 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 8/256GB and 12/256GB. It measures 161.6 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 172 grams. According to Google Translate, it’s being offered in the following colorways: “Rainbow Clouds Chasing the Moon”, “Ink Jade Green” and “Phantom Night Dark”.

It’s unclear if and when the Honor X40 will make it to international markets, but we see no reason for it to remain confined to China indefinitely.
