After the Samsung Galaxy S23, its big brother, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has been spotted on Geekbench. The Galaxy S23 Ultra may break cover at Samsung’s Unpacked event in February 2023, along with the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus. But you won’t have to wait long to find out about its performance and CPU specifications.
The Geekbench listing shows the processor’s core configuration, core clock speeds and CPU scores, which give us a fair idea of its performance compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. So, let’s look at the smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Geekbench results
Thanks to a report, we have the Geekbench scores of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The smartphone has a model number of SM-S918U and is likely to be headed to the US market. The motherboard is dubbed “Kalama” and is speculated to be the name for Qualcomm’s upcoming chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The vanilla Galaxy S23 stood out in benchmarks with the same motherboard and model name, the Samsung SM-S911U. Suffice it to say, all Galaxy S23 models will be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, at least in non-European markets.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra scored 1521 points in the single-core test and 4689 points in the multi-core test. This is a significant improvement over the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, which averages around 1200 in single-core and 3300 in multi-core. The device seems to match the iPhone 14 Pro’s multi-core score, which hovers around 4600. However, it can’t match the iPhone’s single-core score of 1850.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra looks like a performance monster going by these leaks. However, as we have seen in the past, Samsung smartphones do not offer the same gaming experience as other smartphones powered by the same chipset. There are chances that Samsung might compromise the performance for the sake of battery efficiency, which will disappoint gamers.
Samsung S23 Ultra CPU core configuration
The Geekbench listing also shows a 1+4+3 CPU core configuration. Assuming it’s a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, you get an ARM Cortex-X3 primary core clocked at 3.36GHz, four ARM Cortex-A715 intermediate cores clocked at 2.80GHz and three ARM Cortex-A510 efficiency cores clocked at 2.02GHz. It also packs in the new Adreno 740 GPU.
