Huawei has issued a court notice regarding patent infringement. The lawsuit is against Amazon and e-color display maker Compal Electronics, as well as several of their affiliates.
The claim may be related to a patent related to the Kindle, a product that Amazon said will be released in China by the end of H1 2023.
The exact copyrights of the infringement are not detailed as official documents have yet to be published by the People’s Court of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The hearing will begin on December 8.
As reported, Huawei has sold more than 110,000 units of its MatePad Paper e-ink tablet that comes with Harmony OS 2.0. In its first two months in late February, Huawei’s flagship tablet surpassed Kindle sales in China, the source said.
Huawei is one of the leading patent holders. It has more than 110,000 valid patents and is a leader in CNIPA and EUIPO – IP regulators in China and the EU. It is also ranked fifth in the United States – a country where it is not allowed to do business.
