The Google Pixel 7 Pro is finally here. In a perfect world, this device would compete with smartphones like the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in select markets like the US. However, in India, at a starting price of Rs. 84,990, the Pixel 7 Pro will compete with the recently launched iPhone 14 Plus, which is priced at Rs. 89,900.
Although both can be bought at slightly lower prices in India, they are flagship smartphones with similar prices and larger sizes. However, when it comes to hardware specifications, the iPhone 14 Plus doesn’t stand a chance against the Pixel 7 Pro, which is superior to Apple’s Plus-sized iPhone in every way.
The Pixel 7 Pro has a better display, cameras, design and more.
Like the iPhone 14 Plus, the Pixel 7 Pro also has a 6.7-inch OLED display. With variable refresh rate (LTPO 10-120Hz) technology, QHD+ resolution and also slightly curved edges, the screen on the Pixel 7 Pro is superior. to the iPhone 14 Plus.
Similarly, the triple camera setup on the Pixel 7 Pro with a special telephoto (periscope lens) is also better than the 12MP dual camera setup on the iPhone 14 Plus. In fact, the camera setup on the Pixel 7 Pro is comparable to the iPhone 14 Pro, which costs twice as much as the Pixel 7 Pro in India.
When it comes to design, the Pixel 7 looks fresh with a unique camera layout. While both phones have a metal frame, glass sandwich design and IP68 water and dust resistance rating, the Pixel 7 Pro makes a slightly premium offering with a glossy frame.
The iPhone 14 Plus has a better processor.
The only good thing about the iPhone 14 Plus compared to the Pixel 7 Pro is the processor. Despite being powered by a year-old processor, the iPhone 14 Plus’s A15 Bionic is far superior to the Tensor G2 in the Google Pixel 7 Pro.
When it comes to normal day-to-day usage, both the phones offer a good user experience and get extended software support. So when it comes to software both the phones are equal to each other.
The Verdict: Go Pixel?
If you have already made up your mind to spend more than Rs. 80,000 on a smartphone, Google Pixel 7 Pro looks very attractive. However, if you’re desperate for a bigger screen for this budget, the only option is the iPhone 14 Plus. Pixel has done a great job when it comes to price, making the Pixel 7 Pro one of the best smartphones of 2022.
