TL; DR
- A leak from a popular tipster pulls together all the expected specs for the Google Pixel 7a.
- The highlights of the Pixel 7a are expected to be the Tensor G2 chip, improved display and camera hardware.
We are gearing up to launch the Google Pixel 7a soon, possibly at Google I/O 2023. The Pixel 7a will be the mid-range offering in the Pixel portfolio, bringing with it the camera hardware expected to power the phone. Fairly attractive, given the magic of Google software. We’ve seen several leaks of the device, including full renders of all colors, and now we’re in the final game of filling in the gaps that weren’t covered before.
According to the report 91 mobile phones According to tipster Yogesh Bra, these are expected to be the final specifications of the Google Pixel 7a.
- 6.1 inch FHD+ OLED display with 90Hz refresh
- Tensor G2 chipset
- 8GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB UFS 3.1 internal storage
- 64MP primary rear camera with OIS, as well as a 12MP ultra-wide rear camera
- 10.8 MP front camera
- A claimed 4,400mAh battery with 72 hours of battery backup
- 20W wired charging
- Wireless charging
- Android 13 out of the box
We’ve heard about most of these specs from various sources over the past months, but it’s nice to have another source put them all together.
We’re especially impressed with the 8GB of RAM, which is a nice upgrade from the 6GB of RAM on the Pixel 6a. Users will finally appreciate the up to 90Hz refresh rate. Of course, you’ll find the original Tensor G2 SoC on the 7a, which is the same as the one in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro flagships.
The 20W wired charging will be a marginal improvement over the 18W wired charging on its predecessor. Before you get too excited to hear about wireless charging, note that previous leaks have mentioned the same 5W minimum speed. If true, the Pixel 7a’s wireless charging capabilities are best used for overnight charging, as the speed will otherwise be too slow for fast charging.
The Google Pixel 7a is rumored to launch on May 10 at Google I/O 2023 for $499, with pre-orders expected to go live on the same day and the phone landing in stores shortly after.
