No Phone (1) users in India can now download and install Android 12 based NothingOS 1.1.6 update. The latest update brings some much-awaited features like Google AR Core and Jio 5G connectivity support. Several users took to Twitter to share that they had received the nearly 62MB update.
Notably, the brand has rolled out six firmware updates to its smartphones within three months of launch. The latest update for Nothing Phone (1) still runs the September Android security patch. While the phone will receive the Android 13 update only in 2023, the beta version of this update will be available by the end of 2022.
Let’s take a look at the new features coming to No Phone (1).
Changes and improvements to No Phone (1)
Any phone (1) already supports Airtel 5G and now the firmware update enables JioTrue5G support as well. According to a MySmartPrice report, the NothingOS 1.1.6 firmware update will be very useful for the phone users in cities where Jio has rolled out its 5G service. As the telecom operator is expanding its 5G rollout roadmap, this update comes at the right time.
Apart from these, the Nothing Phone (1) NothingOS 1.1.6 update brings a few camera improvements such as sharper video recording. The recording light indicator will turn on by default post receiving the update. Also, the brand has not optimized the launcher, allowing users to get a fluid launch experience.

Should you upgrade?
In the past, the smartphone has faced problems like dead pixels because some units were loaded with defective hardware or were damaged during transit. In addition, some users have complained about the accumulation of dust in the back panel. There was a green tint problem on the screen and the camera went out as well. The company began releasing software updates to address these bugs. However, some updates make the device unstable even though the company fixes them as well.
That said, if you want to experience the Jio 5G services and the major updates rolled out by the company, then go ahead and make sure the update is ready. If you’re using any phone (1), you can check if the update is available by heading to Settings -> About Phone -> Check for Updates.
