Yesterday, the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 received the first One UI 5 beta while the Z Flip3 received beta #2 (the Z Fold3 is expected soon). Samsung is still moving down the list and now it’s time to try Android 13 and the new One software on the Galaxy Z Fold2.
This will be the final push for the 2020 foldable, which comes with Android 10. It is eligible for 3 OS updates and this will be the third and last one (the next-gen foldables have been introduced to 4 OS updates). That’s about as many updates as the Pixel phones are getting, plus the Z Fold2 will continue to receive security patches – Samsung has committed to supporting it for 4 years, until the end of 2024.

Back to Beta – currently rolling out to units in South Korea, but should be arriving in other markets soon. Note: In Korea, both SIM-free and carrier phones are eligible for the update.
If you want to try it out (and accept that it probably has bugs), you can use the Samsung Members app to sign up for the beta program. One last bit of warning – installing the beta is easy enough, it requires a full wipe to get back to stable Android 12 so back up your data before you start.
P.S. If you’re wondering what’s going on with the Z Flip side in 2020, the original model was recently updated to One UI 4.1.1, but there’s no mention of version 5 yet. However, the Z Flip and Z Flip 5G have the same software support windows (3 OS updates, 4 years of maintenance), so it’s only a matter of time before the Flips join the beta program as well.
