Samsung has released a series of massive gaming monitors under the Odyssey brand – like the 55″ 16:9 Ark or the bonkers 57″ 32:9 Neo G9. These are curved displays, but some users prefer flat ones. The new Odyssey Neo G7 (model name: G70NC) is for them.
This 43-inch display has 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels, 16:9). The Odyssey’s displays are large enough to be used as televisions — indeed, they’re Tizen smart TVs — and a flat screen works best for that. The other models use tighter curves that are optimized for use at a desk rather than viewing from the couch.
144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time • Built-in support for gaming and video streaming
The Neo G7 features a Quantum Mini LED backlight for precise ambient dimming. It gets bright enough for a VESA display with HDR600 certification (600 nits) and also supports HDR10+. You can use this in a brightly lit room for its brightness and also on a tile on a display surface.
As a gaming monitor, you can connect to a PC via DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1. The panel can run up to 144Hz refresh rate with 1ms response time, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is supported. You can monitor your FPS, dynamic refresh rate and HDR status from the game bar.
The Odyssey Neo G7 has built-in support for game streaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. You can connect a wireless controller via Bluetooth and you’re good to go. There are 20W speakers on board so you don’t even need to connect external speakers.
As we mentioned earlier, this is also a smart TV, so you can re-stream Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube when your PC or console goes down. You can also control your SmartThings devices from the Samsung Smart Hub.

A few more things. The included stand can be bent at a convenient angle, but you can mount the display on the wall. Also, there are a pair of USB 3.0 ports available from the built-in USB hub. As for internet connection, you can either go with wired Ethernet or use Wi-Fi 5 (as game streaming is more stable over wired connection and has lower boot-up latency).
Samsung will launch the Odyssey Neo G7 this quarter, the exact timing and price will be announced by the company’s regional offices.
