Sony has launched an updated version of its LinkBuds S headphones, which were introduced in May. Instead of toting a bunch of audio features, the Link Buds S Earth Blue Buds have a marble finish that incorporates more recycled materials. A pair of in-ear noise-cancelling headphones are available for pre-order at the same price as other variants.
TL; DR
- Sony has introduced new LinkBuds S Earth Blue made from water bottles.
- Link Buds S Earth Blue Buds have a unique marble finish.
- Sony sells the iRh Blue Buds for $198.
Sony says the Earth Blue booth and charger are made from “water bottles and factory-reclaimed plastic.” This results in unique marble patterns on the exterior. LinkBuds S’s other color options also tap into recycled materials, but these use plastics from cars. Likewise, all colors use zero plastic in their packaging.
Apart from the unique color scheme, the Earth Blue Sony LinkBuds S in-ears do not come with any changes in terms of sound and connectivity. These IPX4-water-resistant headphones feature the same compact and lightweight round design and replaceable ear tips. Inside are 5mm audio drivers and a set of noise-canceling microphones.

Like the latest earbuds, the Sony LinkBuds S headphones support Google Quick Pair, although the latter adds LDAC codecs over AAC and SBC. In addition, it gets multi-point connection through Bluetooth 5.2. Unfortunately, battery life didn’t change with 20 hours of total playback using the case, or 6 hours between charges.
Sony has opened pre-orders for the LinkBuds S Earth Blue, which will cost $198 in the US or €200 in Germany and other parts of Europe. These new ANC headphones are expected to ship in late October.
