With tens of millions of installs of the adidas Running app, users return to adidas every day as part of their health and fitness routines. Like many in the industry, adidas recognized the importance of making it as easy as possible for users to achieve their fitness goals in this ever-evolving market, and making their app available on Wear was a natural fit. Adidas hasn’t stopped bringing their running app to the watch, but they understand how it makes it easier for users to be able to engage with the app hands-free or eyes-free in situations like exercise. Can engage with the app.
Integrating Google Assistant
To enable hands-free control, Adidas looked to Google Assistant and App Actions, which allow users to control voice using built-in Intensity (BIS). Users can perform specific tasks by voice or take action on activities such as starting a run or swimming.
Integrating the health and fitness BIIS was a simple addition that the Adidas staff made by declaring Android Developer in the IDE. <ችሎታ> tags in their shortcuts.xml file to create a consistent experience between the mobile app and the watch face. This is the process.
- First, the assistant analyzes the user’s query using natural language understanding and identifies the appropriate BII. example, START_EXERCISE To start exercising.
- Second, the assistant fulfills the user’s intent by directing the user to a specific content or function. in addition START_EXERCISEusers can also stop (STOP_EXERCISE), pause (PAUSE_EXERCISE) or resume (RESUME_EXERCISE) their physical activities. Haptic feedback or dings can also be added here to show whether a user request was successful or not.
When App Actions was being built on Android, the development team was able to deploy it quickly. And by partnering with Health Services and Health Connect APIs that support real-time sensing and health data, respectively, end users can enjoy a unified and secure experience on mobile and Wear OS devices.
“What’s exciting about Assistant and Apparel is that the combination helps our users reach their fitness goals. “The ability for a user to use their voice to track their workout makes for a unique and highly accessible experience,” says Robert Hellwagner, director of product innovation for adidas Runtastic. “We’re excited about what can be done by enabling voice-based interactions and experiences for our users through app actions.”
