Towards the end of last year, Xiaomi revamped the Mi 11 Lite 5G and announced the 11 Lite 5G NE, a practically identical smartphone with a different chipset. In the year In 2022, there will apparently also be an NE model for the Lite series, but this will come with a lot of differences.
According to information from China, the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE has appeared in the IMEI database, where it exists and the model number is 2210129SG. The “G” at the end indicates that this device is intended for the global market, not the Chinese one.
And this makes perfect sense when you consider the rumors that the CV2 is about to be rebranded. That phone is already on sale in China, so it makes sense that the modified model will only be available elsewhere.
The Xiaomi Civi 2 has a different chipset compared to the original 12 Lite – Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, which should have better performance than the Snapdragon 778G. It also has a different main camera, with a resolution of 50MP rather than 108MP, and an 8MP sensor fitted to the existing Lite with a 20MP ultrawide. While the selfie camera itself looks the same, the CV2 comes with an extra ultra-wide sensor and dual-LED flash. The battery is slightly richer at 4,500 mAh vs 4,300 mAh, but all other specifications are remarkably similar, if not identical.
Interestingly, the 2210129SG was certified by the FCC in September, so the launch may be closer than you think. We know from the FCC filing that the 12 Lite 5G NE will have three configurations: 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8/128GB and 8/256GB.
