Mobile payments are very convenient, allowing you to leave your card and wallet at home. There are many solutions available, from Google Pay and Apple Pay to OEM solutions and third-party apps.
But when was the last time you used mobile payments? We posed this question to readers earlier this week and here are the results of that poll.
When was the last time you used mobile payments?
Results
More than 1,900 votes have been cast since we posted the poll, and ~40% of respondents used mobile payment on the day they took the poll (“today”). The second most popular option was “last week”, with 26.3% of the vote. In other words, nearly two-thirds of poll readers used mobile payments in the past week.
It is also interesting to note that 20.64% of the respondents said they have never used mobile payments. Presumably, these readers simply prefer cash/card or cannot use mobile payments on their phones. For example, many financial/payment apps don’t work on rooted devices.
Bringing up the rear were “last month” (4.93%), “a few months ago” (3.73%), “more than a year ago” (3.22%) and “a year ago” (1.24%).
Comments
- Debra RightIntwo Boykin: It’s incredibly convenient to leave your purse or wallet in the car when you want to grab something at the store. I literally only have my Samsung Wallet on my lock screen because it’s swipe, fingerprint and tap. It works faster than inserting a card. Also, don’t touch anything that can spread disease! If you have a phone that supports it, it’s a win.
- Stanley Kubrick: Simply tap, swipe or insert a card. At least I’m not writing a check while others are waiting in line behind me! I still see this!
- Dilberto: Never will, never will.
- David Josephson: Google Pay in MIUI 13 (Android 12) on my Mi 10T Pro 5G is built-in with NFC support. Very easy to use, I use it every day 🙂 Also some shops like Coop (here in Norway) support mobile payments with their own app which you have to download.
- Skifarterking: Coincidentally, Payment stopped working with Magisk as a Wallet a month ago. Hopefully a solution will be forthcoming.
- mattc: I rarely carry a card or wallet with me
