Rugged phone maker Bullitt, which owns smartphone brands such as Cat, Kodak and Land Rover, is teasing a new device capable of satellite connectivity. The British-based company has a demo page on its website where interested users can sign up for updates.

If users can’t access the first two wireless connections, the phone connects directly to one of two global satellite networks for text messaging only. This feature allows the Bullitt smartphone to send SMS messages in dead zones around the world, although users with non-Bullitt smartphones must download the Bullitt app to read and receive these messages.
A Bullitt phone user will have to pay a monthly subscription fee for the satellite service. Bullitt’s satellite-connected smartphone is expected to launch in Q1 2023 – which means we could see the device at MWC Barcelona in February. Bullitt has confirmed that the upcoming device will be running a custom chipset, though we haven’t got details on the model or the manufacturer.
