Or maybe you want to customize your smart home and add your own touches. Thanks to today’s coffee break, you only need five minutes to learn how to make Alexa’s skill blueprint!
Voice assistants have become like roommates in your modern home after a while. If you know a true Alexa fan who has a friendly relationship with Amazon’s voice assistant, you can give him or her a real treat. The “Alexa Skill Blueprints” function allows you to create individual Alexa voice commands with your own responses.
Besides getting funny answers to your own questions, there’s a lot more to discover. For example, Amazon suggests helping a home guest with useful tips for your smart home or telling a nanny where certain items are in your home. A homework schedule can be created using skill blueprints. All possibilities are best explored by yourself, and I will tell you how to find the feature first.
Create your own Alexa commands: Here’s how with Skill Blueprint.
As with most Alexa functions, in addition to voice commands, you first need the Alexa app. You already have it installed to work with your Echo speaker. If you don’t already have it on your phone, you can download it for free for iOS and Android. Sign in and go to the “More” page. There, tap on the “View More” option where you will find the “Blueprints” entry.
- Launch the Alexa app.

- Choose Blueprints.
did i find it Perfect! From here you can create your own skills. In the Blueprint menu, you’ll find all the options I mentioned above under “All”. To create your own voice command, tap “Questions and Answers.” You can listen to an anonymous Amazon employee example here or tap “Create Now” directly below.
Here, enter the question and the answer you want. You can enter multiple question-answer combinations at once – or delete other input fields. Then select “Create Skill” in the top right corner.
- Choose Custom question and answer.
- Hide unwanted input options.
- Enter the question and answer you want. Here’s a tip: You should enter two options that Alexa should respond to in the future.
- choose”Create skills“In the upper right corner.
Now the only thing left is: try it! The new skill should be available immediately after saving. That’s it – this is how you create new voice commands on your Alexa or your friends’ Alexa setup.
