💨 Hello! It’s been a very windy week here. September 1st is approaching, which is supposed to be a spring day, but I’m not counting on beach weather just yet.
iPhone date confirmed
It is true that it drips from Bloomberg, Apple has announced a September 7 event scheduled for 10 AM PT (1 PM ET, 7 PM CET). The company hasn’t said whether it will launch the iPhone 14 series here, though it’s all but guaranteed at this point.
What does the poster tell us?
- That “distant” tagline and accompanying image (shown above) suggest that the rumored satellite communication features may begin here.
- Leaks indicate that the upcoming iPhones will include satellite connectivity for features such as emergency services.
- Again, we heard about these claims before the iPhone 13 was launched.
- 9 to 5 Mac The poster suggests that it could hint at astrophotography or iOS 16’s always-on display feature.
- The astrophotography modes are pretty cool but I want my next phone to have it after using Android devices with the feature.
- me I’m banking on a hint of satellite communication in the artwork.
What to expect from the iPhone 14 series?
- Apple supports iPhone 14 Mini for one iPhone 14 Max.
- The iPhone 14 Max is basically a cheap big-screen iPhone. So if you just want a bigger screen, you don’t need to buy the more expensive Pro Max device.
- Otherwise, you’ll have to wait for the regular iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- Only the Pro models are believed to get the new A16 Bionic processor, while the standard devices will stick with the current A15 chip.
- Pro models may be the only ones to get 48MP main cameras.
- If Apple’s adoption of 48MP cameras is anything like Android OEMs, it uses pixel-binning to deliver clean 12MP shots.
- 48MP cameras open the door to 8K video capability. Will Apple finally bring 8K recording to its iPhones?
- Apple’s new phones may also ditch the long-standing and invisible bezels and instead support a notch.

Thursday thing
Natural language processing has come leaps and bounds over the years, enabling everything from voice assistants and live caption functionality to real-time voice translation. Now, it looks like we can add accent change to the list of apps.
- Startup company Sanas has created accent-changing technology that uses AI to make people sound more western. Or white, like this SFGate Text notes.
- The technology is currently used by seven foreign companies for call centers, but the company wants to bring it to video and voice calls.
- Call center workers changing their accent (and name) for Western consumers is nothing new, but is this AI software too far?
- Sociology professor Winifred Poster says: “On the surface it reflects a problem with communication – people can’t understand what other people are saying.” But, in fact, how the rhetoric incites racism and ethnocentrism is set up for other general issues.
- Still, is it surprising that speech-changing technology could be fodder for the likes of TikTok?
Enjoy the rest of the day!
