At the end of March, you could buy the new Samsung Galaxy A55 and get the new Galaxy Buds FE for 50% off. Now you can get double the discount and the shoots for free. The price of the phone still remains the same, but it's not that long since it first launched.
And if the A55 is out of your budget, the Galaxy 35 also comes with a free pair of Galaxy Buds FE. This year, the two models are the same size (with a 6.6†120Hz FHD+ OLED display), but the A55 has a more premium build (metal chassis instead of plastic) and a better chipset (Exynos 1480 with AMD graphics vs. Exynos 1380). There are a few other differences, but the Galaxy A35 is £100 cheaper than its sibling, so whether the saving is worth it is up to you.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is still new, so there aren't any great deals for the new trio. However, the S23 series also received new AI features and while the support window is small (3 OS updates and 4 years left to go), prices are low.
The Samsung Galaxy S23+ (8/256GB) is £750, while the S24+ (12/256GB) is £1,000. Note that you can get an additional 10% off if you have an Amazon Prime student membership.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra still has a capable camera, even after a year (it's actually more capable than the S24+). You can have a 12/512GB unit for £1,100, compared to £1,350 for the S24 Ultra with the same memory configuration. And the same 10% discount for Amazon Prime Student members applies here as well.
Last week we mentioned Honor 90 Lite and Honor Pad X8. They're now £10 cheaper than they were a week ago, so we'll mention them briefly again. It doesn't sound like much, but these are already pretty cheap – the Honor 90 Lite is a sub-£200 5G phone with a 100MP camera and a 6.7†90Hz IPS LCD, while the Pad X8 is a 10.1. A tablet with a 1,920 x 1,200 pixel LCD.
Going over £200 we get the Poco X6. This phone runs on Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and has a premium 6.67†12-bit 120Hz OLED with 1,220 x 2,712px resolution and Dolby Vision. The chipset is paired with plenty of RAM (12GB) and 256GB of storage (non-expandable).
If we go to the £300+ level, the Poco X6 Pro is also an option. It has the faster Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset, but is otherwise largely identical to its vanilla sibling. Note that part of the price increase is an upgrade to 512GB of storage.
When will Asus release the smaller Zenfone 11? The company is silent on the matter. You can have the Zenfone 10 for £600 though (8/256GB configuration). Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is fast even by 2024 standards and there aren't many Android flagships to choose from. The biggest drawback to recommending this is Asus's poor update policy – it only promises 2 OS updates and one has already happened. At least the company has committed to 4 years of security fixes, until 2027.
