Garmin has launched the Venue Square 2 at IFA in Berlin. The only Square smartwatch appears to have been released before from the company’s lineup of watches and fitness trackers. Today, we confirmed the improvements that the Garmin Venu Sq 2 brings, including double the battery and a new music variant like the Forerunner 255.
TL; DR
- The Garmin Venu Square 2 has a large display and a large battery.
- It now comes with a variety of music from health snapshots and offline music playback.
- Garmin Venu Sq 2 is available for $250.
The front of the Garmin Venu Square 2 features a 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with an anodized aluminum bezel and a fiber-reinforced case. 1.3 inches is a small change from the original Gen Venu Sq, but still a welcome change. Likewise, Garmin has retained the squarish look of the watch as well as the 5ATM water resistance rating. In addition, the side buttons on the right side have been removed.
Double the battery life by 2 times the venus squared
The biggest change on the Venu Square 2 is under the hood. Garmin promises up to 11 days of battery life on a single charge in smartwatch mode. This is 5 days longer than the previous one. Users can now benefit from the battery saver feature.
As for fitness functions, Garmin’s newly announced wearable supports up to 25 sports, from outdoor cycling and swimming to basic running and activity tracking. New on the Venu Square 2 is a health snapshot that lets you track all the important things like stress, sleep and heart rate in a two-minute recording. There is also a pregnancy log system under the women’s health department.
Apart from the built-in GPS, the smartwatch features are unchanged on the Garmin Venu Square 2 notifications and Garmin Pay. You can still pair the watch from the Garmin Mobile app via Bluetooth, and it’s compatible for Android or iPhone.
Garmin Venu Square 2 price and availability
Garmin is raising the price of the Venu Square 2. The non-music model costs $250, while opting for the music-capable Venu Square 2 will set you back $300. Both are available from the Garmin website or from partner retailers such as Amazon. On the other hand, Garmin released the Black Panther Vivofit Junior 3 tracker for $90.
