iOS 16 has many different exciting new features, one of which is expanding the power of iOS widgets. Originally confined to the iOS home screen, widgets can now be placed on the lock screen. This is great if you want to keep track of the weather, your Apple Watch fitness rings, or your battery level. Here’s how to add widgets to the iPhone lock screen.

To add widgets to your iPhone lock screen, press your finger on the lock screen. Select the lock screen you want to customize and the widget area will appear on the screen. Select the widgets you want, move them to the desired order and save.
How to add widgets to your iPhone lock screen
First, you need to press the side power button on your iPhone until the lock screen appears. If you have an Apple Watch that controls Face ID or lock screen unlocking, you should be faster. Long press on the lock screen until you see this screen. Select and tap the lock screen you want to add widgets to. Customize.
It will now display the selected lock screen with the combined home screen wallpaper. Tap that because we want to put widgets on the lock screen.
Anything surrounded by a gray border is a widget area. Tap where you want to add a widget and the widget selection will appear. On the flip side, long-pressing the widget causes it to turn off.
You’ll start by looking at some of Apple’s recommended widgets, which are mostly widgets for Apple applications. If you’re not sure what a widget does, the app icon is next to it to identify it. Touch the widgets you want and they will appear on the screen. You can drag it to where you want.
If you scroll down the screen, you’ll see other widgets on offer. Currently there are not many lock screen widgets but it all depends on the apps you have installed. Also, remember that you don’t want widgets on your lock screen that reveal any personal information that a stranger can see.
Tapping on one of the options will give you different widget styles and information about what the widget offers. Select what you want and it will appear on the screen.
