Apple has released the iOS 16.3 update to the public. Apple is focusing on a few major features compared to iOS 16.2, such as changing the wallpaper to black on the lock screen, incorrect widget mode, and horizontal lines appearing on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Support for HomePod 2023 and thermal sensor activation for HomePod Mini have also been added.
The iOS 16.3 update aims to address additional issues that started appearing with previous versions of iOS. It brings new additions but these include a collection of Unity wallpapers, new security keys with Apple ID and compatibility with HomePod 2 (buying guide) and more. Below are the new significant changes in iOS 16.3.

- Security keys are built into Apple ID, allowing the use of physical security tools to replace or enhance current security measures like FaceID.
- Globally superior data protection or end-to-end encryption First released in the US and select countries.
- Initiating an emergency SOS call gives you the option to make a silent call that can be turned on or off.
- New unity wallpapers with unique fonts and customizations.
- The Home app now supports HomePod 2023 (2nd generation) and sets up automations using the temperature and humidity sensors on the HomePod Mini.
- Remastered ambient sounds can be used in the Home app.
- Added new HomePod lock screen widgets, including a climate sensor.
List of bug fixes in iOS 16.3
- Eliminates the problem of wallpaper turning black on the lock screen.
- Apple Music lets you play transparent versions of tracks by default.
- Addresses the issue of Siri not responding to music requests.
- Fixes the problem of horizontal lines when turning on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- Fixes the Home app widget not displaying the correct state.
- Fixes a FreeForm issue for Apple Pencil and handwriting sketches not syncing on collaboration boards.

The latest software version is already available for compatible iPhone models such as iPhone 8 (Plus), iPhone SE 2 and later models.
