TL; DR
- Oppo has unveiled the second generation of MariSilicon SoC.
- The company unveiled its new 6-in-1 health monitor.
- Oppo has unveiled its new AR glasses.
As Oppo’s Inno Day 2022 kicks off in full swing, the company has a few announcements it wants to get off its chest. These announcements include a new addition to the MariSilicon family, a health monitor, and some new AR glasses.
Marisilicon Y
Self-developed MariSilicon NPU Launched in 2021 with MariSilicon X. At Inno Day 2022, Oppo unveiled its successor to last year’s chip – the MariSilicon Y. Oppo claims that this new Bluetooth audio SoC is the first SoC to use the N6RF process. Technology. It also claims the chip is the first to transmit 24-bit/192kHz ultra-clear lossless audio over Bluetooth. This chip increases the Bluetooth bandwidth by 50% to 12Mbps compared to the current high spec Bluetooth chip.
Additionally, it will have a new codec called ultra-resolution lossless codec (URLC) and will provide 590GOP separately for real-time audio processing and AI workloads. Oppo also claims that the MariSilicon Y will isolate the sound of certain objects and provide spatial rendering.
In short, it should be able to provide a wireless connection with sound equivalent to a wired connection. Other benefits said to come with the chip include 66% less transceiver power consumption and 33% smaller chip size.
OHealth H1
Last year, Oppo established the Oppo Health Lab to produce health-related products, and now we are seeing the fruits of its labor. The OHealth H1 health display will be the first product in Oppo’s smart health category.
Touted for family use, Oppo claims the OH1 is a 6-in-1 device that measures blood oxygen, ECG, heart and lung function, heart rate, body temperature and sleep monitoring. The 95g device is designed to be easy to take anywhere and is not required for sleep monitoring. It can be by your side or on your pillow, and it’s said to still record accurate measurements.
With such a device, it is important to think about data privacy. To protect your health information, OH1 is said to store the information locally by default so that you can control how the information is used.
Oppo Air Glass 2
During the event, Oppo brought a demonstration of its new AR glasses – Oppo Air Glass 2. Like Air Glass, the company does not describe this gadget as augmented reality, instead the company calls it “assisted reality”.
This time, Oppo chose a design reminiscent of conventional glasses. The original Air Glass seems to have been closer to an advanced version of Google Glass since its inception.
Because there’s more hardware, the AirGlass 2 weighs more than the AirGlass, but not by much. The Air Mirror comes in at 30g and the Air Mirror 2 at 38g, which should be light enough to deal with any weight-related discomfort.
Oppo claims that the new AR glasses will allow users to make calls, translate in real-time, provide location-based navigation, convert voice to text, and more.
Although it’s a welcome information dump, the company never gave a release date for the mentioned products. However, we will probably see MariSilicon Wi in next year’s flagship phones. As for the other products, we’ll just have to wait and see.
