Xiaomi is following up the Redmi 12 from last month with the 5G version launched in India. The Redmi 12 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, but it looks exactly like its 4G sibling. The new phone is identical to the Redmi Note 12R, which is only available in China, except for the selfie camera.
The Redmi 12 5G is built around a 6.79-inch LCD with a 90 Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. A 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support is shared with the Redmi 12.
The camera setup is different though, with a 50 MP f/1.8 main unit and a 2 MP f/2.4 macro camera instead of the 8 MP ultrawide unit on the 4G phone. On the front, the Redmi 12 5G has an 8MP f/2.0 camera with 1.12µm pixels.
The Redmi 12 5G runs MIUI 14 on top of Android 13, with a design inspired by crystals and gemstones. It features a glass back, a first for the Redmi Note series, and brings the thickness to just under 8.2mm. There is a basic IP53 protection against dust and water splash.
