The Pixel 5a was launched in August 2021 and offers everything that Google smartphones are known for. You get solid performance, a smooth software experience, and some really great smartphone cameras. It also brings key improvements in build quality and battery life, but is significantly cheaper than its predecessor, the Pixel 5.

After two years, you can upgrade to a new Pixel phone with a subscription plan and keep your Pixel 5a at no extra cost. Alternatively, if you buy the Pixel 5a from the Google Store, you’ll get three months of Google Fi for free. This way, you can try the program without committing to a two-year contract.

The Google Pixel 5 has been a long time coming, and it turned out to be worth the wait. It wasn’t the highest spec phone on the market, but that wasn’t the intention. At a retail price of $700, it ditches high-end features like facial recognition and amazing motion sensors to give you the things you love: a great display, great battery life, and fun software.

Google has decided to discontinue the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G in order to launch the Pixel 6. Unfortunately, the two phones will remain on sale while stocks last and are limited. You may need to go in recovery to get hold of one.
If you’re looking to get a Pixel 5, here are a few options you still have.
Pixel 4a

The Google Pixel 4a takes many style cues from the Pixel 4, but at a lower price. All of Google’s parts and focus have now turned to their latest devices so this is another discontinued device, although you can rarely pick up a new model.
The Pixel 4a 5G is essentially a 5G-enabled version of the Pixel 4a, but that’s not the only upgrade. The phone has a large screen, a fast Snapdragon 765G processor and a large battery. As a result, it strikes the perfect balance between premium and budget, making it one of the best mid-range phones on the market.
Again, this particular phone has been discontinued, and prices are going up on existing models.
Pixel 4
Google is dropping the Pixel 4 from its lineup, which means you’ll have to hurry if you want the new Pixel flagship in your pocket. There are pros and cons to the Pixel 4, but it offers a camera experience that’s hard to top.

Surprisingly, compared to its successors, the Pixel 4 is still in pretty good new condition. There are no hoops to jump through so you can bring the phone to your carrier of choice.
Pixel 3 and 3a
Pixel 3a and 3a XL
Going back another half-generation, the Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL still make good choices for mid-range devices. They are downgraded to a Snapdragon 670 processor but retain many features like Google’s powerful camera and integrated Google Assistant.
Right now there are only deals on the Pixel 3a XL version, so check them out if you want to go big on this line.

Pixel 2 and 2XL
If you’re itching for a dose of Pixel nostalgia, you can still pick up the classic Pixel 2 XL on Amazon for $139.99. The Pixel 2 may not be a high-end daily driver anymore, but it still has reasonable specs and can serve as a backup to your latest Pixel model.
