TL; DR
- Vivo has announced the global launch date for the X90 series of phones.
- The new flagship handsets will go live on February 3.
Vivo launched the X90 series of flagship phones in China in late November 2022, offering more horsepower and versatile, Zeiss-branded camera systems. We had to wait a while for the global release but the company has finally confirmed the launch date.
Although it hasn’t revealed specific markets yet, the Chinese brand has announced a February 3, 2023 global launch (February 2, 6AM GMT+8 on February 3) on its global website. However, we assume the phones will be available in Europe, India and the Middle East.
While it’s unclear whether all the phones will make it to market, the camera-related text on the back of the phone suggests we’re looking at at least the Vivo X90 Pro (with a 50mm focal length).
Vivo X90 Pro brings Mediatek Dimensity 9200 SoC, 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED screen (2,800 x 1,260), 4,870mAh battery, 120W wired charging, 50W wireless speeds and IP68 rating. This device brings a 50MP one-inch IMX989 primary camera, a 50MP 2x telephoto lens and a 12MP ultrawide shooter.
That being said, we hope to see the flagship Vivo X90 Pro Plus as well. It offers a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 6.78-inch QHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, 4,700mAh battery with 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and IP68 rating. The Pro Plus is also king of the mountain when it comes to photography, with a 50MP one-inch main camera, a 50MP 2x telephoto camera, a 64MP 3.5x periscope camera, and a 48MP ultrawide lens.
In any case, last year’s Vivo X80 Pro was a great camera-focused phone that was a bit too expensive in markets like Europe. So we hope to see more competitive pricing from these new phones.
