Of course, the summer heat won’t stop us from finding the best apps of the week for you. So if you are reading this article on an iOS or Android smartphone, you can try the apps directly. In keeping with the high summer season in the states of Germany, France and the USA, we have selected summer apps – or at least twisted the statement to fit the theme!
In most areas where NextPit reads, temperatures are currently above 30 degrees. So even on this warm Saturday, we’re publishing our 5 Apps of the Week – and then there are two conclusions. You are reading this article by the pool or in the sun. Or hiding from the heat in a cold basement.

Of course, the heat has an effect on our choices—we’ve looked for apps that are less distracting or helpful in the summer. If you’re a little distracted, you might want to read my tips for making your own DIY air conditioner. As always, we’ve made sure our apps aren’t cost traps!
Yescapa—Airbnb for Camps
The best thing you can do in this weather? Drive and take a vacation! For that, I’ve chosen Yescapa for you, which is somehow an Airbnb clone for caravans and motorhomes. So you can rent vehicles from private individuals, they don’t need them themselves. Private individuals and professional rentals are included.
The app is clearly structured, based on your location and shows the total costs of your rental period. Alternatively, if you have a motorhome to rent yourself, you can do so through the app as well. For our communities, I looked at many places – there is a great selection in Europe. On the contrary, in the US the choice is still very limited, but who knows – if you own a motor home you can change that yourself.

Cocktail flow—so drink enough 🥸
When the weather is hot, you have to drink a lot – they teach you in school! That doesn’t necessarily mean water, so I’ve chosen the most popular cocktail app in the AppStore for you. The cocktail flow includes more cocktails than a bachelor party in Berlin can drink, and of course a lot of non-alcoholic drinks.
After the design update, the app looks fantastic, and you can specify which elements you still have at home. Then the app will show you which cocktails can be mixed from them. Of course, one more note: if you decide to go with alcoholic cocktails, be very careful about the temperature. Be responsible and tell me your favorite cocktail in the comments!

Be my eyes – help others during the summer
Personally, I haven’t been particularly bothered by the heat in recent days. After all, I’m relatively young, I don’t have any physical disabilities and I’m prone to freezing or blacking out at any moment. Of course, not everyone feels this way, and with this application you can help a certain group.
Because Be My Eyes is a network that people with visual impairments use to find help in many situations. With just a few taps, a blind person can ask you questions through a mobile camera. Expired milk is mentioned as an example, you can read the date before with the camera.
In hot weather, many ways to help people with visual impairments in public become problematic. After all, in this weather, who wants to slide on metal surfaces or suddenly get lost in a square without shade? Be my eye can help a little here.

Komoot—walking with a goal
If you want to use your smartphone for outdoor activities, you are definitely already familiar with Komoot. Personally, I like to use Comet’s route directory in my browser and then download the routes as a PDF to my phone. However, the Komoot app in combination with a subscription offers many benefits that will help you while hiking.
Basically, Komoot is a hiking app with a community of hiking trails, mountain bike trails and other outdoor routes. In Berlin—for example—I was able to find interesting trails from other Berliners, leading me to glimpses of the past that perhaps not everyone knows about.
The first hiking trail in the States is free, which allows you to open only one region, but you will have to pay $3.99 each to unlock more regions. You can also unlock “Pack Regions” for $8.99. But if you check in advance at the supermarket for travel guides, the costs will be modest. If you walk regularly, Komoot is one of the best walking apps on the market.

Stumbling men
Last but not least, the mobile game: Stumble Guys is available for Android and iOS—and is a direct clone of the popular Fall Guys. Here you have to run in parkour with many players and you can only jump, walk forward and change direction. The game is very simple, but the whole concept is very addictive.
On my second try I managed to be the first player to beat one of the 15 or so levels. After that, only 16 players made it to the next round, narrowing the field even further. All that remains at the end is a winner and until then you have to survive many nasty traps. Very fun and playable without annoying ads. However, you can get designs and costumes through in-app purchases.
