Smart rings could be the next big thing in the wearables market and we reached out to the Ultrahuman Ring Air to see how it stacks up against established smartwatches and smart bands. This is the lightest smartwatch on the market right now, weighing between 2-3g depending on your size and just 2.4mm thick – far less intrusive than a bulky smartwatch.
Despite its slim frame, the Ring Air promises standard health tracking features found on smartwatches, including continuous heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV) and SpO2 monitoring. You also get detailed sleep tracking with sleep stages, recovery and activity index metrics, step counting and exercise mode with accurate heart rate monitoring.

The inside of the ring houses an infrared PPG sensor, a 6-axis motion sensor, and a skin temperature sensor, along with the battery and charging pin, all encased in see-through epoxy resin.

Ultrahuman claims that a finger is a more accurate source of information thanks to the number of blood vessels in your fingers. You can wear the ring on your index, middle or ring finger. This isn't a medical-grade device, but we'll make sure to compare readings from the ring to a smartwatch.
Connect the Bell Air via Bluetooth 5 Low Energy (LE) to an Android or iOS phone and you'll access all your data on the Ultrahuman Companion app. Our first impressions of the app are positive – it's well laid out, easy to navigate and provides detailed information on the basics of health and activity with a few neat additions.
With options to log light exposure, food intake, and exercise, there's a circadian rhythm tracker that guides you through the optimal time to take caffeine and stay on top of your body's clock. It's also nice to see that there's no subscription model at play here, and you'll have access to all your data forever.
Our review unit comes in a raw titanium finish similar to the natural titanium iPhone 15 Pro. The sleek finish looks soothing and should be protected just as well as the others. Ultrahuman is offering the Ring Air in Aster Black, Matte Grey, Bionic Gold and Space Silver colors.
The retail package includes a charger and a Type-C USB cable, as well as a few leaflets to help set up the ring. Price is set at $349 from the official Ultrahuman site.
Battery life is said to last between 4-6 days, which we'll make sure to test throughout our review. That's all we have for now, be sure to stay tuned for our full review coming in due course.
