Last week a report claimed Xiaomi had exclusive first launch rights to Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, and today a new rumor tells us exactly when to expect it to launch. According to Proflix Digital Chat, the first device powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is scheduled to arrive in mid-October.
If the previous report about Xiaomi's exclusivity is correct, this means that the Xiaomi 15 (and possibly the 15 Pro alongside it) will be unveiled in mid-October.
Xiaomi 14
Of course, since we are still very far from that time, a lot can change from now on, but it should be noted that Xiaomi 14 was announced on October 26 last year. So this time in mid-October would only mean an unveiling one to two weeks earlier than what happened in 2023 – that's definitely not a stretch.
Note that this Xiaomi 15 may be the first launch for the Chinese market only, as seen with the company's flagships a few years ago. Xiaomi 14 made its global debut at MWC this February.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to have reached a single-core score of around 2,700 and a multi-core score of around 10,000 on Geekbench, according to a digital chat site. Its CPU is said to sport two extra large cores clocked at 3.6 to 4 GHz. The hint tells us to expect relatively large theoretical performance improvements on the CPU and GPU side.
