Huawei Mate 50E comes as the lowest member of the series behind the vanilla Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design. It’s cut a few edges in an effort to achieve a lower price tag, but it still looks like a great phone.
The Mate 50E sports the same 6.7-inch 90Hz OLED panel as the regular Mate 50, but for the less powerful Snapdragon 778G chip (again, no 5G connectivity). Storage goes up to 256GB, again with support for 256GB NM memory cards.
The camera system includes an XMAGE 50MP main shooter with f/1.4-4.0 variable aperture as well as a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide snapper. The front skips the 3D ToF sensor and relies solely on a single 13MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.4 aperture.
The 4,460mAh battery is borrowed from the vanilla Mate 50 with 66W charging support.
Color options are Silver, Black and Purple, and the Mate 50E will start at CNY 3,999 ($575) for the standard 128GB version with shipments in October. No word on a global release, but don’t hold your breath for it.
