Sony is holding a gaming event on Monday where we may or may not see a new smartphone. However, rumors are pointing to another launch in November, when the second-generation photography-focused Xperia Pro-I will be unveiled.
According to reports, Sony will launch the phone with three cameras, all with new and improved sensors, all with 48MP resolution. On top of that, one of them will have a variable aperture between f/1.2 and f/4.0.
The triple cameras are 48MP with pixel binning, meaning they shoot at 12MP resolution. According to the source, the main camera will have a 1″ IMX903 sensor and the ultra-wide shooter will come with a 1/1.3″ IMX803 imager.
The telephoto sensor will be a new version of the 1/1.7″ IMX557 we previously saw on the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 IV. However, it had a native 12MP resolution in those two, and the replacement is moving to a quad-bearer setup.
We can expect a new ISP to come whenever the Xperia Pro-I Mark II is announced. Last year’s Pro-I was reached by the end of October, so the timeline suggested by the report is not acceptable.
