App Store review guidelines have been updated to support updated guidelines, upcoming features, and clarifications.
- The title of the document has been changed to Application Review Guidelines.
- The introduction section explains how developers in the EU can distribute notarized iOS apps from alternative app marketplaces. This section provides links to more information about alternative app marketplaces and notarization for iOS apps.
The following guidelines have been updated:
- 2.3.1: Added violation of this rule as grounds for banning an app from being installed on an alternative distribution.
- 2.3.10: Added Developers may not include the names, icons or images of other mobile platforms or alternative app marketplaces in their apps or metadata, except as a specifically approved interactive feature.
- 3.1.3(b): Added a link to 3.1.1 to clarify that 3.1.1(a) applies and that applications of the Multi-Platform Services may use the rights of 3.1.1(a).
- 4.8 Login Services: Updated to clarify that the Login Service cannot collect interactions with your App for advertising purposes without your consent. It also states that if your app uses an alternative app marketplace, or is distributed from an alternative app marketplace, for account, download, and commercial features on the marketplace, no other sign-in service is required.
- 5.1.1(viii): Applications that collect personal data from any source, including public databases, without the direct consent of the user or the user's express consent are not permitted on alternative application marketplaces.
- 5.4 and 5.5: Updated to state that apps that don't follow these guidelines will be blocked from being installed on alternative distributions.
- Bug Fix Submissions: Added Bug fixes are not delayed for apps already in alternative app marketplaces, except those related to legal or security issues.
