vivo's X100 Pro is already an impressive camera phone, one of the best launched in the last few months. But it's not enough for the Chinese company – it wants to push the envelope even further. And in fact, according to the vice president of the product, Huang Tao, Vivo is currently working on a new smartphone, which will be a “professional camera that can be called” (quote machine translated from Chinese).
This device is likely to be called the X100 Ultra and is currently being rumored on Weibo under the code name Thanos. A Vivo exec took to the Chinese social network to thank people for their huge interest in the upcoming smartphone and announced that the X100 Ultra will be arriving at some point in the near future. Rumor has it next month.
The idea behind this is really to create a “professional camera” equipped with a smartphone that paints what we want and are excited to see and test in person. Vivo has already proven that it has a knack for creating amazing camera phones, and if this is the pinnacle of everything the company can achieve, we're all for it.
The X100 Ultra features a Quad HD+ E7 AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset at the core, a 50 MP main camera with Sony's Lytia LYT-900 sensor as well as an ultra-wide telephoto, and an additional 200 MP periscope telephoto equivalent to 100mm. Focal length for 4.3x optical zoom and 200x digital zoom. The phone should sport a satellite connection.
