China's smartphone market grew by 6.5% in Q1, 2024. According to IDC's quarterly mobile phone tracker, a total of 69.3 million smartphones were shipped in the first three months of the year, led by Honor and Huawei. The two companies are neck and neck for the top spot, each controlling 17% of the market share.
Huawei's market share growth is impressive with 110 percent growth compared to Q1 2023. The drive was driven by the new lunar year marketing in the low and mid-range segments and the AI buzz in the flagship device category. Prestige led the way for strong interest in the Magic6 series. Huawei has had a strong comeback in the smartphone market. Oppo ranked third with 15.7% market share but was the biggest mover in the top-three with negative growth of 15.5%.
